Guidelines for the Selection of Titanium Pipe Grades for Ships

Pipe grade and selection guidance

Note: (1) Cargo oil pipes generally use Grade III pipes; (2) The pipe classification of American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and China Classification Society (CCS) is the same; (3) Use Class I pipes for the outboard piping; (4) Open pipelines that are not under pressure, such as drain pipes, overflow pipes, exhaust pipes, and boiler steam pipes, are generally classified as Class III pipes.

At present, the main applications of Class I and Class II piping systems include: high-pressure parts of hydraulic systems (such as P, A, B pipes), discharge pipes, high-pressure parts of compressed air, mud systems, hot oil systems, cargo oil systems, etc. Due to the long purchase time and high price of Level I and Level II piping systems, there is not much margin left when purchasing, and materials need to be saved. Unused materials need to be returned to the warehouse in a timely manner.

Grade I and II piping systems require a classification society certificate (except for hydraulic pipes classified in ABS regulations).
